Cardi B & Zendaya Cover Latest Issue Of “CR Fashion Book”

Cardi B’s 2017 was nothing short of astounding, as the rapper scored her first solo Billboard Hot 100 song with “Bodak Yellow,” while also becoming the toast of the hip-hop community based on her unrelenting charisma and fresh appeal. The rapper can now count CR Fashion Book as her introduction into the fashion editorial world.

Cardi was interviewed by fellow covergirl Zendaya for the issue, which sees her speaking about how her life has changed since becoming a worldwide phenomenon. She reveals that “my family, whatever they want, they get. Everything that I want to buy, I can get. I don’t have to worry so much about my future,” continuing to admit how “..Even though I’m happy, I feel like I was a little bit happier two or three years ago when I had less money. I had less people who had opinions about my life. I felt like my life was mine. Now I feel like I don’t even own my life. I feel like the world owns me.”

Zendaya’s editorial took a decidedly more conceptual approach, as the actress/singer was clothed in outfits reminiscent of performance art from the 1970s. Cardi spoke with the Spiderman: Homecoming starlet and discussed a variety of topics, including how her Oakland upbringing is still very much a part of her DNA. Zendaya notes how “I was born and raised in Oakland, all my family is from there…and they’re not from the Oakland Hills, we are from the hoods of Oakland. It’s something that I’m proud of and I’m lucky to be where I’m from. My aunties held Black Panther party meetings in the downstairs basement of our house that I grew up in.”

Editor-in-chief Carine Roitfeld reveals she chose these two ladies because “both are icons made for 2018: approachable, unfiltered, and multitalented.” Peep their covers below:
