Yesterday, I wrote a post about the 7 iPhone apps every musician should have on their phone. As expected, many people sent me emails and messages begging me to do a post for Android users. Come on, you should know me by now that I wouldn’t ever leave my fellow (yes, I use an android phone also) Android users behind. So find below 8 android apps that every musician should have on their phone.
Tuner – gStrings
If you are a musician, surely you already know how to play at least one instrument (if you can’t play any instrument, then you should really learn one). Now if you have a stringed instrument, making it sound perfect is really key. You need a tuner app to let you know when your instrument is sounding perfect, and that’s where Tuner – gStrings comes in. It can tune your violin, viola, violoncello, bass, guitar or piano as well as some wind instruments. A great tuner that does exactly what you want it to, gStrings is a no-brainer for this sort of thing.
Shazam is one of the most popular music apps out there. If you just heard a song on a radio or in a movie and you want to know who sang it, all you have to do is Shazam it. Using your microphone, Shazam will listen to the song and then search its database for all the information you need about the song.
Timing is a very important thing when making or playing music, and musicians have employed a metronome for years to help get the timing of their music just right. Now it will be very hard for you to take a metronome anywhere you go, but luckily, there’s an application for that; Metronome.
